Night Fear

I'm running through my nightmare
I can't seem to catch my breath
Whatever the Hell is chasing me
Surely intends my death
I can't see where I'm going
I don't know where I've been
My heart is pounding like a drum
And my muscles are on fire
I've no idea what I'm running from
And things are seeming mighty grim
A deathly chill fills my soul
And the light is getting dim
A glance behind me shows teeth & shadows
I can feel the rumble of it's fearsome tread
I can sense the beast behind me
My thoughts are filled with dread
My legs are moving faster
But I think I'm slowing down
The panting of my pursuer
stirs the air around my head
Somewhere in the pit of my soul
I know it's just a dream
But until I wake
I'll tell you my friend
I ain't about to stop.
