They say old men die wisely
And young men live foolishly
I live in my vanity
With fool's gold and a fool's love
As my mirror
Have pity for me then
For I am neither young nor wise
Living in my alternate reality
Conceiving and deceiving with equal clarity

heh, heh

how did you get my picture in your mirror?

This is said quite nicely, however, it has been said alot of times, in similar ways, i.e. "alternate reality", "fools gold", mirror and vanity. This is always dangerous territory.

IMHO this manages to escape, and has a very nice flow and feel to it.

As a question (for my satisfaction) : Why did you use the word "Conceiving"?
