Next thing you know
it's July 4th in autumn,
exploding in breath, giggles,
sharp exhalation then off
to the fair full of batik,
governor speak and kid bounce.
Jazz funks from the stage,
and our bench sits under
the bluest eye, cloudless.
Time to dance into the laze
of midafternoon with pop gun
boinks and small boy smiles
when johnny strikes up the band
fairs in New England are indeed an event.
Sounds like you had a ball...did you have fried dough??
