Sung to the title "Jack O Diamonds."

I was stopped at the Detroit Windsor line,
By a Border cop who was a crook.
He lied in court and I had to do time,
When he told his lies my goose was cooked!

I found me on the way to Milan Pen,
I was shaking and nervous you bet!
I asked for a smoke and the jailor grinned,
He chuckled and said "Here's what you get!"

Jack of Diamonds Jack of Diamonds,
I know you are old.
You've give me distemper, cancer and a cold.
Old tobacco old tobacco, that's all that you are,
Some better, but you beat, the state stuff by far!

I did my time and was going to get out,
I saw that hack, "Remember me now?
Can you spare a smoke for a boy who's free?"
He grinned and reached Jack of Diamonds to me!

Jack of Diamonds Jack of Diamonds,
I thought we were done,
You ain't classy you're just nasty,
And you ain't no fun.
Old tobacco old tobacco, that's all that you are,
Some better, but you beat, the state stuff by far!!
