The animal emerges from the fight
Wounded, bleeding, lame
And seeks a safe solace
A place to hide until healed
And when healed, stays hidden
Untrusting of the world
That caused the damage first
That caused the damage twice
That caused the damage again
Choosing instead the darkness
Of the lonely hiding place
The wounds much deeper
The scars, hidden, still sting
A friendly hand coaxes
Feeds, pets, loves
Animal slowly emerges
Untrusting and expecting
To be wounded again
Takes time, takes care

I was Deeply moved by this poem~

There is so much character, spirit, and desperation here. I feel the *animals'* hurt, saddness, loss. This is an excellent show of imagery.

One could almost imagine the animal, as a hurt *person*..Just loved this poem.. Big 5 in my book~~!! Keep'm coming~~!!
