LEARNING LESSONS

For once I sit quietly,

listening,

learning how not to be

Gazing into this world

Determined to have my dreams realized

Accepting that there are times when one must be a wallflower

But still insisting on being a beautiful yellow rose

With the least imperfection as possible

So now I will sit and grow

Until I reach full bloom….

I will stand tall on a thick stem

Brutal thorns to protect me

I will intoxicate you with my scent

And you will be warmed by my beauty

My eyes will be locked with yours

And my head I will hold high

As I sit at your feet in awe of you

Filled with love and devotion

And gratitude that your eyes seek mine

And that I may hold my head high
