To hold the skies
To hold the valleys
To hold the boulders

She imagined her arms carrying them
Caressing them and tenderly embracing them
For, they seemed neglected

A modest pebble, she lifted, not a challenge
A foot sized rock, a small struggle
Her lithe arms felt strained as she progressed

She continued nonetheless,
No matter what the pain
No longer lithe, her skin taut and peaks emerged

The earth, the forest, and the people
All sacred to her, her home
She walked the winding path, feeling hot iron in modest legs
Finally strengthened
Legs thicker than oak and denser than steel

She mustered her breath and inhaled
Her mounds now greater than the bountiful hills
Overshadowed the sky and provided shade for the weary

Stretched, she reached for the sky
It seemed that she climbed valleys
Not the case, she rose with every stretch
Approaching the cliffs like gaseous steam

Arms widened, biceps and triceps peaked
Legs thickened and density increased
Barrel-chested, fertility on the front and rear
More rotund than mother Gaia intended

Her hands reached for the sun
As her frame towered over the mountains
Her shadow overreached the passes
Respite for the towns, respite for the overheated ocean

To care, to feel the rush of love
The sweetest nectar, the antidote to woe
For she achieved it, she ascended the heavens

Earning her place among the hearts of the people
The hearts of forest, and the gratitude of the fish
And most importantly, embracing the sky, the valleys
And the boulders
