As I stepped outside to enjoy
The beautiful weather of this spring day
When to my delight,
I heard a bird start to sing.
I'll think I'll write a poem about the little fellow
and the spring day I enjoyed.
as the cardinal sang, I was inspired
once more to write this poem

When I heard him sing, it’s lovely tune
I looked all around.
But the bird with the majestic voice,
Just couldn't be found,
Then to my astonishment,
As if he knew about my search,
He flew a the gentle breeze to a nearby tree
And he started to perch.

Where he chose to land,
Was just a few feet from me,
Then the cardinal’s song burst fort,
From this brilliant red bird,
It was so wonderful to hear,
The cardinal rehearsing his song,
with a little brown sparrows,
singing along.

The cardinal’s rendition only lasted,
Just few minutes or so,
Then he flew somewhere unknown,
This beautiful bright red cardinal,
Still singing it’s lovely tune,
I am thankful for his visit
On this delightful day.
