into my cocoon
and out
I go,
alternately
exposing
and retreating,

reports of
existence
filter down,
chance sighting
a coffee bar
book store,

Seattle airport
some
sleepless night,
Costco
buying batteries
or wine,

shuffling down
town streets
early dusk,
hands in Levi pockets
mountaineering jacket
pulled tight,

eyes meet
look away
only to look again,
later we talk
politics, weather
the war,

dressed
and back
downtown,
we sip cappuccinos
and taste each other’s
biscotti,

Savoring.

You smile ~ and the Angels sing. It's so easy to take the road to Romance.

I liked the imagery in this poem. I felt like I was there.
