I know that this is all my fault
Someday I will get it right
Nobody needs to hold my hand
Or even try to understand
I'll just keep these notions under lock
And sit here in my golden box.

Somebody went and took my place
Now no one will look me in the face
But that place was never really mine
So the situation's turned out fine
I'll just keep these notions under lock
And sit here in my golden box

I'm not sweating out in the field
or turning in a factory wheel
No one's yelling at me that I can hear
and I get seven days off a year
It's best to keep these notions under lock
And sit here in my golden box.
