Isn’t lovely
A swollen red mystery
Full filled of thousands
Tiny seed treasures
Rubies and pearls
Await your tongue to taste
A world of wonder
Laying before you
Some sour, most sweet
With only one way to know

Here little girl
Let me show you
The way to enjoy
A mysterious fruit
While you mark out
Your days in hell
Just remember
Each new mystery
You put between your lips
Brings you back here
Again and again

Eat me
Lustrey cries
Of small cakes
Light drink
No way of knowing
Until you grow or shrink
Too late too too late
To go back
Over all that pain
Just to relive
Those lost moments
Of joy we once knew
In an even exchange
For what’s behind the door
And all I get
Is a handful
Magic beans

Try to unlearn
And travel backward
Remove those places of pain
You have planted
In this dark garden
Weeding your privet maze
Half filled promises
Full bloomed lies
A river of denial
To lead to your heart
Just as it is not mine
That secret kiss you hide
On the corner of your mouth
Meant for someone
You mistook for me
At least I now know
What it’s like
To slip
In and out of heaven

So retrace carefully
These hidden lines of desire
Enscribe a circle
Around the raised red bud
Convince it if you will
To come free in your hand
And then dig your nail lightly
Across the deep flushed flesh
From tip to tip and back again
Then holding firm spilt and spread
The whole fruit open
There is magic
In doing it right
So that nothing is bruised
And you may savor the juices
As you please

Take what you will
Only remember
That something once broken
There is nothing
Can put it back together
Not the king’s horses
Not the queen’s men
Nor the sweet look
Framed in your eyes
When the kore has been tasted
Young Persephone has become
A woman of darkness
Whether she wishes or not
