Might I 'share' your steps
for just a bit -
would you mind?
The path of finding
gets lonely from time-to-time
and things seen long the way
are hard to accept
knowing they aren't changable
cause they already happened
but wishing so hard
for a 'do-over' or
at least a 'what-if'.

Sometimes I just sit
on a curb
tween the cars
and watch the world,
listen to life passing by,
wondering my part
in the scheme...
musing about lil things
that only seem to mean a damn
to me.

I've seen the guys playin,
the 'ladies' struttin -
proud and 'leashed',
the children MEAN
as only a child can be.
I've seen the EYES
hiding what they really can't
hide at all
and heard the whispers
in the stagnant air
as dreams shatter
and lives cease to be
anything their owners hoped.

I've tasted hope
and the bitterness left behind.
Left tears pooling in the gutters
marking my place -
each lil salt crystal
white on the asphalt
of the roads
I've walked
and sat beside.

And yes - there has
been laughter along the ways
and bright shining eyes
and soul-soft smiles
and dreams in the palms of hands
I grasped so tight yet
they slipped away.
Is a 'curious' world
to walk within
and breathe when you must
and smile when you can't
and live though its all you know.

Well, was nice to pause
for a lil bit
but I know you're wanting
to be away...
and I've more walking to do as well.
Watch out for 'falling stars'
and neon lights
and slightly 'crooked' halo's -
cause they are the 'dreams'
we share, you and I
and so many others
under the night skies.
