Love is a voice that I speak with in darkness
Only to hear it echoing back
Color floods in and paints the shadows
Opening spaces and widening cracks

The voice feels so silky and heavy like earth
Only to float like a teasing cloud
Warm blood flows in and kills off the questions
Prying open my heart with its sound

Still I can hear it inside a closed hand
Behind a locked door, above my grasp
As it slips like a nightmare, abrasive and loud
On feet still so cat-like and silent and fast

Now it has found me where I couldn't hide
Invading my core with a poison stab
While I lie here motionless, gasping and pale
In the one beam of moonlight this cold planet has

The voice now so tender and soft inside me
Warmed by my heart that has welcomed it in
The air moves around me and pulls at my senses
But nothing can charm me as I'm charmed by him
