Moon over Manhattan
Pale in the Kansas sky
Neither bold nor bright
Absorbed by the night
Blanketing the wheat and rye

Moon over Manhattan
Pale in the Kansas sky
Peeking from a clouded place
Down on a lightless space
Where intelligence designed to die

Moon over Topeka!

Manhattan is a place of intelligence. Topeka is the state capitol and the location of the Kansas Board of Education.

Topeka, like all state capitols, is NOT a place of intelligence, by design or not!

As a Jayhawker born and bred, I like your poem but not intelligent design!

A fun and interesting little poem...

although I don't know that Manhattan, home of KSU, is to blame for the Kansas Board of Education rulings on "intelligent design."

The final line "Where intelligence designed to die" is a little bit too twisted syntactically, but makes your point.

A fun and wry little poem. Nice job!

A nice little write

Of a desolate place

Surrounding Manhattan, Kansas.
