Restraining retraining
My weary wiry mind
From the caress of your figure
The memory of it I lay out
On my bed in front of me and mine
A slender supple thing
Of delicate shadow and deceit
Sweetscent sweat illusion
Tinted twisted tainted
Manied mirrored memories
Dark reflexes flexing refracted
A scry awry as a sty in my eye
Moonstone journeys I take alone
Having wonted to walk this way
With you at side heels
Kick catterprance pacing
Canter bantering in broken tongues
In sitches in sides besides
Up hills and downy dales
Oh well and ah there
Don’t think twice its all right

Adamant inanimate granite
Unmoving cool slow burning
under all ever in
A loll rolling skein of water
Forever falling off and away
Slip slippering whispering
Slowly carving caving in
Unseen unasked impressions
In quiet stone bend shapes
Like limpid lithographs
Or soapstone petroglyphs
Left as ancestors before me
Indelible as their mark on you now
As the marks you leave on me
Ah well and oh there
Don’t think twice its all right

Is a ribcage charged to keep
My fool heart held back
Protected from you all
Louvered and blinded
Or to keep it from escaping
The torture of the burden of the
Time and tide and thought
My many manly faults pressing
Inward and onward on point
Pale bone broken re-mended
Reset in lies and excuses
On the tender occasion
You reach for my hand
And remember I was also your friend
