had the oddest dream today
drifting a balloon, away
‘cross fields of molten lead
memories in my head,

when daisies filled the fields below
we would often say, ‘you know’
‘life’s a dream, a fantasy’
for the likes of you and me,

who were we, way back there
vagabonds, unlikely pair
between Earth and cold dark space
touching lips, face to face,

was it sex, or stimulation
the Red Delicious of temptation
even now, so crisp so fresh
pressed together, flesh to flesh,

nothing lasts forever, though
each of us had to go
packed our bags and disappeared
never again, as we feared,

just the memories of then
would we do it all, again
or do it different, do it right
for a lifetime, or for a night,
