White like bone or ivory-tusk
The Moon waxes and wanes in heaven.
It is now the darkest point of dusk,
When every living thing is safe in its own haven.
Thou art ever-present in my mind, my life made
Writhing agony and a sweet garden boasting in its glory-
Like some stray shade,
Like a banshee that hunter dreaded by so many.
With flesh the colour of the world at sunrise-
Flesh that broods within me an emotional maelstrom-

So thou beguileth me, in all Thy iridescent beauty;
Like the eye of heaven in the skies glowing,
Radiant, proud in all Its glory.

So thou appear before me, thou angel of delight-
Like a banshee, that stalks the dread night.
