Ode to Sam

One year and four months ago you became a fixture in my life
Cute, cocky, sweet, and funny; with a laugh I'd grown accustomed to
We met as new employees, struggling through the day to day
Some days the struggle was harder than others and a few made me break down
You showed your sweet side and offered a helping hand
Most times you were just funny and fun to be around
I'll miss it.

Standing at about 6'2", raven-haired, bright eyes of blue
A walk that can only be called a swagger
Raspy voice laced with a charming drawl
I'm sure you're beating the chicks of with a stick
Since I know you; you're more than likely welcoming them in
Proof that in real life; shadows of Nigha and Jason were no more than friends
I'd imagined our future together based on what we'd already shared
I waited for the day when you found that girl that would last through the night
Later on, for little Sams running around with those eyes
I'll miss it.

With our market closing in around us; our future uncertain
You pulled a smart move and found a new and better endeavor
Before certainty made that move a more difficult necessity
I'd hoped that things would be alright for us, but hope wouldn't do for you
Not you; not one to relegate life to chance
You made it happen and I'm glad for you indeed
No more watching you drag yourself in; voice raspier than normal
At times the only other person who looked as ready to leave as I did
Mutually underestimated and constantly exceeding the plans set before us
My partner in crime
I'll miss it.

Yesterday it came to an end
We parted with a hug and some well wishes
No promises to stay in touch or future visits
We're both too old for those notions
I wish you the best although I know that you'll be better
I wish you love and happiness and hope that our paths will cross again someday
But if not; I've enjoyed our time together
I'll miss it.

In life; as well as with your vehicles
'Ride it until the wheels fall off'
Keep that attitude and confidence that exudes from your being
'No one on the corner has a swagger like you!'
I'll miss it...and I'll miss you sweetie.

Cheers!

Great poem

I thought the poem was wonderful and very heartfelt. Just wondering when the next chapter for Nigha and Jason will be ready. I am really anxious to find out the rest of the story. You have a wonderful talent and I wish you the best in your future.
