you are fraught with danger and yet, fragile,
my eyes do see
atop your frosty pinnacle where the air runs thin
but place for one to breath
in secret how you long to know my warmth
and falling in surrender feel
that thawing breeze from tender lips, released,
and shared, this gentle heart that beats

if only i could possess you
and make you mine
like a breath held onto, forever,
and in that ebbing stillness find
my way
revealed, an endless shimmer, the moments stay,
my love a flame that never died nor wavered,
long the shadowed ways be trod and left behind

if only i could be free you
take my breath and fly
away, beyond, the misty haze
en wreathed your heart
of sorrow, doubts that chill your mind,
in thawing teardrops mirrored,
far above the clouds
a clear blue sky, your gaze,
embracing far horizons
there to rest, be realized

if only i could see you, once,
gently part the veils, unmake your guise,
in running rivulets along your skin, my softness,
calloused hands and weathered eyes
my smile,
to warm you in the darkness
fear not the dawns most feeble light
in coming, for then i must depart,
yet i would have known you

even if,
but for a while
