calloused hands unused caress with care yet tremble
curtained strength uncertain purpose changed to bear
a beaten tool of war cusp dulled and plunged into the earth
to nourish dreams of glory conquered fallen blown to dust

the eye but for a moment blind
touch unknowing falls

unanswered on a thorn crowned bed blood rose
in bastion rides unvanquished crystal tears hold petals
silken spread to hide a fragile beauty sensed not seen a wisp upon the wind
in fleeting glimpses unbelieved invincible her castle seems

sight caught in grasp of plain truth bound
sees not faint offer tender promise found

upon
fair crown of thorns rose wed
i throw myself this blade dulled
red my worthiness to flush away all doubts
in proof to you
this tear my blood
upon a finger
brushes tender bruised your flesh to wash away the
bitterness and pray forgiveness rain cool petals drift
upon the wind to reach my soul and teach this hand and heart in silence
