Has the sadness of solitude ever so overwhelmed you,
you grasp on to anything promising safe harbor ?
Willing to sacrifice self, sanity and health
Just to hear a soft voice, a reassuring word
Recognition and welcome

The gnawing of need to just feel another’s fingers
running through your hair, to pull you near
even if harsh and demanding, the result is divine
as you are owned and directed to deliver
what little you have to offer.

you relinquish your ego, abandon your identity.
To become the extension of another, is relief,
is acceptance, is a place palpable if not permanent
No guarantees are given, but for now you feel needed,
not much, but enough, to make it to tomorrow

and tomorrow never comes, each moment is illusory,
tentative, taken as it is given, accepted with hope
but no promise. Pay attention, pay homage to She
who has offered You refuge, who has given You purpose
who has given you life for another day.
