your face
upturned the heavens fall
shattered
ashen icy rain

your tears
what healing warmth is swept away
of numbing torrents,
brooked no chance to wind their way

your cries
die cast in muffled silence
swallowed
reaching not the wound that will be stayed

your heart
adrift
on seas of promise broken
sheltered there, within, remains a flame

a dream of untold
beauty, as the pen does take its meaning, first
set
upon the page
