Sonnet #1

I feel that sonnets today are sorely under-rated.


To choose the words to speak to you of love
Would seem to be too great a task for my
Small mind to undertake. I know not why
It is so hard to voice my thoughts thereof.
I wish I could express myself free of
These chains that bind my tongue and mind and tie
All that I feel within my soul. So try
My best, I will, to speak to you, my Love.
Oh, I see in your eyes all that I’ve missed.
Your touch seers through my soul into my heart.
I’ve felt complete since that first time we kissed.
I rue the day to come when we shall part.
For now I cherish what brief time we share
To live alone is more than I can bear.
