dreamed the world was still
suits and fedoras
I was in love
with a girl named Delores,
she was the pianist
a jazz joint downtown
I was in the circus
worked as a clown,
after her last set
the circus show was done
we'd meet with a bottle
damn we'd have fun,
she wore an evening dress
me my clown attire
it'd be an understatement
to say she lit my fire,
afterward I'd always feel
drained with delighted
we'd sleep close and naked
the rest of the night,
morning always came
that six o'clock alarm
I'd make love once again
to her body and her charm,
