Cassiopeia directly
above me,
morning light, I'm starting
to see,
a rising glow out towards
the east,
early morning visual
feast.

Here it is September
already,
in my brain your image
steady,
but like the stars starting
to fade,
and I thought we had it
made.

Time is such a malleable
element,
glowing sometimes like a tungsten
filament,
a bright fixture a
constellation,
but we were only on
vacation.

Now I'm here, you're way
back there,
we were such an unlikely
pair,
each of us fantasizing
a bit,
that two lives would somehow
fit,

In the same box, the same
space,
but that was just not
the case,
so life goes on, time keeps
ticking,
and what are wounds if not
for licking,
