you hang on like the devil
to the Hell-Beast's mane,
as he lights your artistic fire
and carries you through danger zones...
but you get off before
he meets his hungry mate

You work hard
(blood, sweat, tears hard,)
innovate,
and roll fortune's dice

Somedays you eat steak;
somedays just rice

as the years pass,
you learn the rope-tricks
and develop an art

You learn to value fear,
and you bloody perservere

Concise; powerful images; I liked it.
