Yours see only a pretty child
but hers are knowing,
far beyond her years,
but she won't tell you.
Of dreams shattered
before blossoms opened,
buds gone un-nurtured
trampled in the mud of fear.
She'll smile but never meet your eyes
to acknowledge contact
she's learnt, is where dragons lurk.
But she'll won't tell you.

I love this

It is just enough to worry, and the language is tight and expressive. x

Doesn't earn its title

The use of the word "Rape" in the title sets a standard of trauma that "dreams shattered" and "buds gone un-nurtured" do not rise to meet. EVERY childhood can claim those, but not every childhood has been raped.

this will touch many, UYS

you address the darkest places, but refrain from sliding into the maudlin. this puts it out there, asking others to open their eyes - but the sorrow that shows through is in the believing most won't. the world is full of dark secrets

write on, UYS. write on.
