His world ominous and dark
Concealing his name
Hidden
Swallowed up in a crowd
Uncertain who he really is
No one to ask
Secret files that never existed
He stands alone
Camouflaged
In a world bursting with color
Duty to Country first
All else pales, even himself
Bound by honor
Years given to protect
Hardened to solitude
A warrior among them all
Inside, buried under the power
Lies a wounded soul
Afraid to leave his world
Crying out in the darkness
A ray of light, healing him
His heart belongs to her
Strongly identify with this poem having lived the world of National secrets more years than not. Often it is only one person you love that keeps you grounded. Excellent work.
I didn't expect the last verse. I get it, can appreciate the sentiment, just seems a bit disjointed in context.
