Poems kick around my brain
Words or phrases or ideas
Sometimes they float
For days or weeks
But sometimes they pressure me
To write them instantly
I'm not sure
Where they come from
Or why I can't stop them
They must be a part of me
My way of expressing things
Things I can't say in any other way
Things that must escape
Things that must be said
When it's time to write one
I know
It pours from my fingers
It pours out of my brain
It pours onto the paper or screen
I hadn't written poems
For years and years
Maybe 9 years
Maybe more
No urges struck me
No words bounced
But now...
Now I am filled with words
And phrases and ideas
Kicking around my brain
Waiting for the moment of creativity
To burst forth
Into life
