around my tub
A crack
around my heart
Never thought our lives
would completely fall apart
You may have the diamond
but I have your greatest prize
42 pairs of your shoes
You left before
the dawn
Hasty bag was packed
heard the screen door slam
followed dropped drawers
scattered through the shack
Almost caught you darlin'
as I raced across
the lawn
Slung gravel
then you'se gone
You left a
skid mark on my drive
Dust cloud in my eyes
I guess you leavin'
ain't too much
a surprise
Forget those shoes
I'll keep 'em
get on out of here
So long, goodbye, farewell
Kiss my ass
then go to hell
I'm happy
I still got the dog
As I read, I wondered why the title was "Beer Song". Well, d'oh, me. Here, have a :rose:, Harry. Strong emotion in this, I feel the pain. Well written, the scene is vivid. A small smile at the mention of the shoes, but quickly gone.
...had to laugh at Desejo's comment, though. :)
I have missed your voice, here on the new poems page. Saw your comment above on Demures poem. Wondered whether you were going up or down. (smile)
The shoes, and her closet (and half of mine) of clothes were donated to the local group that refurbish apparel for sale by challenged workers. They all had big smiles as we unloaded the truck full of stuffed black plastic bags. Thanks for the comment, means a lot to a CW.
Harry
Ah Harry. Never trust a woman who has 42 pairs of shoes. I hope you planted flowers in them out in the yard. Or gave them to the dog to chew on.
Love the bathtub images in the first stanza. And while it's painful, yes, the humor is good here.
I'd like to hear this song. Do you write music? Tape it for us!
I have bloomed like a flower
seeded in winter
..Oh hell, there's a poem in this!
Thanks for the comments
and Tazz, that doggie:
I would not trade him for gold or shoes (smile)
: hope i have not reopened old wounds . Did not mean to be insensitive or callous . Humble apologies , once more.
