Rain falls down on frenzied flame
Cools the fire, can't put it out
Turns to steam and calls her name
Pierces the night with mournful shout

Ice applied to cease the burn
The flames they lick and bite and hiss
The challenge melts, lost its turn
Inferno spoils eternal bliss

Molten fortress protects the heart
All attempts to breach will fail
The lava river will not part
Phoenix trapped inside a jail

Majestic perched inside her cage
She watched them all fall into ire
They lack the key and thus they rage
One simple truth: Fight fire with fire

Knowledge now one stood the test
One by one his torches lit
His blaze met hers on feathered breast
And now the Prize, with him she sits
