You walk towards me
You're limping, I observe
I've only ever seen you walk this way once before
I take your suitcase
And silently lead you back to the car
Buckling your seatbelt
I watch your fidget with your diamond ring
You remain speechless
And I don't press for answers
Remember, I've seen you like this before
And I understand

I help you into the tub
You struggle to sit, I observe
I've only seen you in this much pain once before
I shampoo you hair
And silently you wince
The water turns crimson
I watch you pull your knees up to your chest
You hide your face
And I don't press for answers
Remember, I've seen you like this before
And I understand
I hand you the pickle jar
You smile, I observe
I've only seen you hide your sadness once before
I wash your shoulders
And silently you blush
Embarrassed by your bruises
I watch you struggling to say everything
You mouth wordlessly
And I don't press for answers
Remember, I've seen you this way before
And I understand

I help you stand
You're crying, I observe
I've only seen you weep this hard once before
I hand you a towel
And silently you struggle out
Taking my hand to steady you
I watch you sink to the cold tiles
You sob unabashed
And I don't need to press for answers
Remember, I've seen you this way before
And I'll see it no more
