Reflections
If I can't be happy,
I might as well be drunk, said the woman at the end of the bar.
What shall we drink to?
Memories I wish to forget, or the ones I was too afraid to make.

She downed the drink in one swallow.
A sad smile on her face, she signaled for another.
She hung her head,
Staring into her scotch,
Her mind was adrift in her own sea of sorrow.

She sits listing all the things she has lost,
All the things she has missed out on.
Trying to be perfect has left her undone.
Finishing her drink, she quietly pays.

Time to replace the mask.
The outside world waits.
The smile never reaches her eyes,
But the tears never touch her cheeks.

Nice pen picture

but may need more poetic rhythm and form to work fully - well done for trying. Sweet O.
