For Karen B.

Morning's dark, mid January. The air
Is cold outside. You feel it in your nose;
It's healthy. I was smiling when I rose
Imagining my joy if you were there -
I went downstairs and though my feet were bare
I never noticed for the strength of those
Warm feelings. Having drunk a hefty dose
Of happiness made all the morning fair.
I had to shake myself, and start the day
As is my wont; I took the dog outside
And made a trail through freshly fallen snow -
I had some food and put the things away
And bathed and dressed, preparing for the ride
To work all smiles - I'd like to let you know.

great work as ever

Sonnets roll off your nib with such practised ease now. Sweet O.

This is just delightful. It shows what craft can do to a simple experience.
