She believed in fairy tales
and all the illusions
ladled like syrup
over impressionable minds

No white Knight tapped upon
her lonely window
only a fraud
he seized what he wanted

leaving her wounded soul
to cry in wretched agony
days fell like black dominos
void of warmth, of light, of hope

still, she believes in fairy tales
of rainbow's end
a predestination of like soul
to mate as one, star-crossed no more

only in dreams does he come
and frees her from deep sorrow
watching the succession
of breaking waves and spraying ocean

he stands behind her pulling her close
whispering softly like the sea breeze
"I love you, I love you, and I'll
never let you be lonely again."
