I asked the ocean why it was blue
And it wept salt
I asked the sand why it was gold
And it smiled at the sun
I asked the shark why it chased all away
And it gnashed its teeth in anger
I asked the fish to sing
And they laughed in loving harmony
I asked the seashells to dance
And the air was flooded with midnight
I asked the moon why it kept watch
And it said it guarded the ocean’s secrets
I asked myself what secrets lay beneath the waves
And the dolphins told me of their friends
The sea sang songs of enchanted fables
The waves crashed against the rocky coast
And I kept quiet
And everything was perfect
