The ragged fields need just one ray of hope
to be transformed – they will be set aglow
and speak of summer, light and long, warm nights
you spent outside: of fruit upon the trees
that bent their branches low enough to pick
the juiciest ones; of lying in the grass
beneath a deep blue sky and staring at
the white unhurried clouds that sailed on by
to make a stately show – one ray of hope
will do that trick. Contentedly you'll watch
the landscape's petals open, and you'll smile
a little sadly at its fleeting dream –
as in the landscape, hope in you may wake
the bright illusions one so badly needs
but to undo them in a wink and leave
you hopeless, in a garden full of weeds.

Beautiful

Sweetly sad and feminine. Wonderful line: hope in you may wake

the bright illusions one so badly needs

Hope...rewards some and crushes others.

Reason?

Contentedly ? sticks out, why?

but the last three lines bring it to a crashing conclusion

But to undo them in a wink & leave

You hopeless , in a garden full of weeds .
