Lonely is the road,
None is the company.
I'm here all alone,
With only stars to accompany.

I fight my own war
Every single day.
Life won’t be easy,
That's what they said.

What do I do, you ask?
I help those in need
However menial the task.
A Doctor without border,
It is noble…noble indeed.

Very few share my vision
Of a world, free of unrest.
Sometimes, all alone in my head
I wonder if it was worth
All the sacrifices I've made.

My doubts clear when I see
That child smiling
And her mother crying
Thanking me for saving
Her child who was dying.

This is my humble fee
For the things I gave.
A smile of gratitude
From the people I save.

A smile of gratitude . . .

. . . I give to you because you have the heart and mind to be considerate. Last stanza is all that's needed. I see you don't allow voting, but this is a winner on so many humane levels. Thanks, Bard.

Generous sentiments

Your poem drew me out of my navel-gazing - thank you.

Social Service is not for money-obsessed individuals.

People HAVE second thoughts when they choose a miserable life over luxury and comfort. I don't usually comment but the level of obnoxiousness & indifference to such sacrifices shown by tazz is not acceptable, atleast to me.

Thoughtful

Nice sentiments to the dedicated souls who selflessly help others in their time of need. It's a thought provoking poem. I hope you write more.
