Don't you know
anything's possible
in the grey miasma
inside my mind
where I walk
when I'm dreaming?

You go there too
I know you do
You're there almost
every night
In the pale grey
over light

Why can't I catch you?
You're always almost
within my grasp

But when I reach for you
You waft away

And I'm left
Clutching at shadows
Clinging to haze

Nothing there but
steamy vapor

I want you so
Why can't I touch you?

I can feel you
Waiting
With a half-scowl on your
almost-perfect face

I trace your features
with my love sick
mind's eye

I sculpt you with
Besotted fingers
Which need not touch you
To make you

They know you
so well

Oh how I ache
to feel your silken skin
under my fingertips

And to caress you
with my hand
my mind
my spirit
my soul

Why not walk with me for a spell?
I've waited for for oh so long
And here you are
Smiling
At my doorstep

Dare I take this treasured gift
you offer so sweetly?

If I touch it
will it dissolve
into the murk
from whence it came?

And once again
will I stand
empty handed
broken hearted

Peering foolishly
into the mist
that is you

My long-ago promised lover
My charming prince

My knight in shining armor
