You are
what you thought before
once removed
supplanted
back
in the date, the time
the place you once walked
taller trees
smaller houses
but there you are.

Older? Yes
and slightly weaker
bent from the weight
the stress
the infinite mass of memory
resting firmly on your shoulders
a precedent lie
twisting through the days
incessantly drawing you
inside.

A street
hot in the summer sun
bubbling tar
broken bits of apples
that were thrown at cars
the long hill
and white house
crumbling
in the sun and shade
fading.

This is a good poem, and once again, hearing you read it makes it so much better. Really great reading.
