I really should act more my age
Husband, father, grandfather
Shamelessly sparking another

Deep excitment at the thought of our meeting

I should be serene and focused
On my life at home, on my wife
On growing older and wiser

She moves into my arms,a smile,a long kiss

I should enjoy the familiarity
Of years of loving and
Romance should come from the comfort

Dancing, my hand in the small of her back

Should be doing retirement planning
With my good wife and my family
Looking forward to happy leisure times

Undressing her slowly, she sighs at my touch

Winter afternoons, books and coffee
Finding some poetic inspiration
In a homey Rockwellian scene

Her soft, white thigh against my face

Scrabble and Sorry and movies
More frequent visits from children
Time for quiet reflection

Warm moving body - loving, yielding, renewing

I should try to act more my age

You know I love

The duality express here and the way in which you express it.

Belated Acknowledgement!!!!

Ashesh used the word "Rockwellian" in a comment to me some time ago - fortunately it stuck in my head because it seemed just right for the line in this poem. Unfortuately the source of it didn't stick in my head until I just re-read the earlier comment. My apologies and thanks to you, Ashesh.

Thank you good people

Lesse - maybe you are picking up on that trace of guilt in the back of my mind?

Twelveoone - I get your point! Yikes!

The flip flop

between desires is really well crafted

I got flashes of naughty and dirty, meshed with normality of life.

as if I was touring through your thoughts, at home with the family, then a flash of doing something you shouldn't. one of the best I have seen of yours, and it was different, full marks :-)

this one is very rich in texture of imagery, something about it draws me yet I want to resist it...strange feeling...
