tagNon-Erotic Poetryall the old things

all the old things

How can I be beautiful
I try all the old things
you don’t see me at all
unless I’m angry
or I seem not to care

I try all the old things
short skirts
short shirts
bubble gum pink lips
I’m not here anymore

why should I care
when you say I look good
does it come with a kiss
a touch
or even a smile

I’m tired
I try less and less
One day you will say
I don’t understand
why she doesn’t try

Know what?
You don’t try

When did you last
lean into me against the wall
on a cold night
making me forget
anything but you

When did you last
touch my skin
and wonder
did you get so lucky

I wonder still
