I went out walking, late one night,
The wind was chill, but moon so bright.
The cemetary, I walked by,
Was lighted fair, by starry sky!

The dew on tombstones, glittered bright,
With such an awesome, eerie light.
Phospherescent, glowing bright,
Wind moved branches, in the night!
Moaning caused, delicious fright,

I decided, then and there,
To go through, I know not where.
So I strode onward, without care,
Ignoring bumps, and creaks out there!

For after all, what's to fear?
On such a moonlit night, so clear.
But wait! What is that gruesome sight?
Floating out there, in the night!

Could it be, a ghost I see?
Or someone, playing tricks on me?
There has to be, a simple key,
Of explanation, telling me.

I stand stock still, eyes opened wide,
When cries like demons, fill the night!
I look real hard, and shapes appear,
That causes me, to shake with fear!

Grotesque shapes, dance and spin,
Careening round, in night chilled wind.
Mouths are grinning, eyes are glowing,
Hell-fire's demons, faces knowing!

I'm terrified, fearful shaking,
My heart beats so, like its breaking.
They advance, nearer bolder,
The air around me's, turning colder!

Their arms reach out, mouths gap wide,
I back and shriek, forget my pride!
But on they come, much more bold,
But fade when I say, "Bless my soul!!"
