A girl I know
a fantasy
says she's someone
just like me,
In the vapor
in the mist
near the top
of the list,
Folks one knows
folks one likes
strong as the pre-Katrina
dikes,

Then the Big One
hits the city
we saw it coming
what a pity,
A little planning
and we'd be dry
we watch the stars
up in the sky,
Dream our dreams
plot our escape
stock up with
beer, duct tape,

Pop a cold one
drink it down
load the car
head out of town,
Singing with
the radio
Me and Bobby
Mcgee, you know,

agree with the flippant sound to this

that exists because of your chosen boppy kind of beat... i can imagine someone doin' their walk down the street to this rhythm.

as for the poem, well, i think it has more depth than first appears. it grows on me the more i read it.

5 but I question the title, my reading of this is it is supposed to be flip, esp the toss away lines at the end.

Check green's poem above you and reread yours; you'll get what I mean.

Hard to take seriously because the rhyme makes it come over flippant. Rhyming poetry has a place; it's not next to serious content. This is not a personal attack, I just thing your energies could be better directed.
