Do I have the courage
To hang my happiness
On someone else’s hand?
Can I take the leap of faith
In another person?
Will my trust be worth as much
To them as it is to me?
Or will it be discarded, careless
In the road?
And so I stand out in the rain.
Looking at shelter, afraid to chance it.
Lest those arms that appear so secure and warm,
Let me fall.
