Condemned Youth

We weren't supposed to get old
Not us, the youth gone wild
And we were so wild,
Wild and wonderful

We were supposed to die of something shockingly tragic
Like all the best people do
To live short, fascinating lives, we knew
Everyone would remember us forever

We forgot that people who don't die young get old
Go grey, and live their lives with the memories
Where everything is so terribly important, and please,
Anything is possible

We wanted to live fast, die young and make good-looking corpses
We got old enough to forget that was what we wanted to do
Or think that anything at all was possible, so I ask you
Is all youth condemned?
