Click hereWhen I was young I wanted so,
To be a "Country Star."
I thought I had just what it takes,
And thought that I'd go far.
I thought I knew all about life,
The good things and the bad.
I wrote songs about happiness,
I wrote songs that were sad.
I wrote songs about pick-up trucks,
I wrote about a train.
I wrote some songs about cheating,
And of going insane.
I wrote of getting really drunk,
And about "Country Pride."
I even wrote a real sad song,
About when Mama died.
When I got my songs together,
And I had them all down.
I wore my boots and cowboy hat,
And went to Nashville town.
I wore my new boots out that day,
I wore holes in the pair.
I hit each place on "Music Row,"
But no one seemed to care.
I left Nashville a wiser man,
I knew I'd never be.
A country singer in Nashville,
Or the "Grand Ol Op'ry!!
