The sonnet is a lover's form oft-times,
designed for heavy breathingtête–à–têtes,
seductive in its use of clever rhymes.
Seductionis the sonnet'sraison d'être.
Unfortunately, you are out of reach.
My whispered lyrics never brush your ear,
so I cannot seduce you with mere speech
(orwriting, to speak properly) my dear,
and yet I must. A sonnet is formed so.
Its lilting language spells out plangently
profundities of loving, sexual,
between its subject (you) and poet (me).
No bitterness bear I beneath this rood:
Pen perfect poem that puts her in the mood.
