False Time

False statements made to fill the silence,
Condolences don't erase the pain.
False smiles used to hide the truth,
The jagged wound gets buried.

Time heals all, or so they say,
But this one's just too raw.
There's nothing here to fill this space,
The edges just keep grinding.

False promises made to ease the pain,
It just goes on as never-ending.
False faces used to hide the ache,
The jagged wound ignored.

Time heals all, or so they say,
But numbness takes the place.
The pain- once sharp- has dulled a bit,
The edges begin to smooth.

Time itself doesn't heal all wounds,
But grants time to face the truth.
Never does it banish pain,
Yet the strain begins to ease.

True smiles show the easing pain,
Happy memories fill this space.
Laughter stills the grinding edges,
And time begins again.
