Time froze
once, it shattered
once -- never again
and the hands locked
at the echo, the lock jawed
mumbling, "We haven't got..."

Time it froze
shattering the hour
glass shards sprinkling
ground beneath the feet,
goose-stepped, lock kneed
needing but a moment

of time.
The sand, slivered
broken pieces of night
a crystal night
of screams in the dark
in the memories.

A time
forgotten but for the voices
dying voices
whispering ever softer
whispering, "Remember,
remember, remember

the time..."

I'm tempted

to fuck around with the last stanza. As it is, it looks slightly overdone. Maybe a space between remember/remember, remember,(no space)remember. I don't know.

Good piece here, remembering 1938.
